A broad crater floor crossed by a dark lava flow from Red Crater.
Between the Emerald Lakes and Blue Lake the track crosses the flat floor of Central Crater, where a black 1800s lava flow from Red Crater lies across the sand. Looking back, Red Crater and Ngāuruhoe line up behind you.
